Permanent Collection

Waterworks Art Museum has an impressive collection of contemporary and historic selections, proudly displayed on rotation in our Gallery. These include vintage photographs from as early as 1878 by Robert C. Morrison, L.A. Huffman, Christian Barthelmess, “Lady” Evelyn Cameron, and Edward S. Curtis.

The Museum’s founding director, Mark Browning, managed the acquisition of numerous important works by area photographers and artists. In 1999, the Home to Montana Fund was established to expand our collection of photographs, paintings and artwork significant to this area

Below is a collection of 18 works by Christian Barthelmess. Please click on images to enlarge and read historical background for each photo.
